I awoke in a cloud, had the whole mountain floated overnight?: On the side of Mt. Rogers in Virginia, I encountered the renowned wild ponies of the Grayson Highlands and enjoyed a full moon in a beautiful night sky. However, going to sleep with a clear sky and waking in a thick cloud the next morning made it seem as if the mountain had magically floated into the air overnight. I hiked down from the dense fog that hovered at the summit, descending into the sunny valley below. When stepping through the cloud line, it felt like I came back to Earth from my journey in the sky.
