Boulders appear like spring flowers–don’t roll on me: Turning a corner along a hillside in Virginia, I was astounded to see multiple immense boulders that appeared so suddenly in the forest that they seemed to have instantly sprung from the ground like wildflowers. Where did they come from and how did they get here? Weaving my way through the giant overhanging rocks, I imagined the possibility of one rolling over me at any moment. The size of these natural structures humbled me as I scurried by in their shadows.
