Hidden understory of pink tunnels, rhododendron forest: Gazing over the hills in Virginia from an overlook, I could only see rolling green ridges. Yet beneath that monochromatic canopy, thousands of rhododendrons lined the trail forming arching tunnels of blooming pink flowers. Only those who walked the trail were privy to such a view. At that moment, I felt incredibly lucky to be walking in the woods, following spring's blooms, and witnessing the beauty that hides within the layers of a forest.
