story printed on reverse:
My presence excites bird chatter
A huge canopy floats above the trail in the Shenandoah Mountains of Northern Virginia, providing an ambient arena where an ongoing, repetitive and often-deafening conversation amongst the birds occurred daily. This chatter picked up as I approached and made camp. I knew they were talking about me. Sitting and listening in my tent one morning, I visualized and translated the bird sounds into geometric shapes that were designed like a Morse code of their calls echoing through the treetops. It was a fun, visual study of the connections between sound and shape while interpreting the bird chatter.
